Star Creatures: An Exploration of Astrological Signs in Mixed Media Collages by Sigrid Eilertson

Artist statement
This series of mixed media collages seek to explore the beauty and mystery behind the astrological sun signs. Animals as subject matter seek to covey the personality traits of each sign highlighting the complexities of the human psyche. It is my personal interpretation through the dynamic movement and majesty of creatures both literal and emotive. We all have typical traits of our sun signs however, these works are part of a deeper understanding of the layered experiences that make us “human.”

About the artist
Sigrid Eilertson is a local Charlottesville artist and co-founder of the annual art festival- ArtCho (www.artcho.org). She holds a masters degree in Art Therapy from Marylhurst University. She views art as a necessary vehicle to enlightenment.
