OPENING RECEPTION: Bonjour from__! I hope this card finds you well

THE GALLERY AT STUDIO IX PRESENTS:

Bonjour from _________! I hope this card finds you well…
The Photo-postcards of Annie Dunckel

FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

About the exhibit
Annie Dunckel (Annie Gunks) has been taking photographs of daily life and adventures with a junky plastic camera for the past 12 years. In order to stay in touch with friends and acquaintances along the way, Annie turns the prints of her photos into postcards and mails them out with frequency. This exhibition Bonjour from ________! I hope this card finds you well… is a look at the more recent years of photographs including her work while stationed in Aspen, Colorado as a fisheries biologist with the US Forest Service. Images depict abstracted landscapes, blurred views of nature, and quick glances of friends. The nature of film photography (with a shitty camera) and snail mail makes for intimate, slowed down experiences, often needed to balance our world today.

Recipients of postcards are encouraged to bring their cards to put on temporary display during the opening reception on Friday, November 3rd, 5-7pm at Studio IX. Over 300 postcards were sent this summer for the project.
